“The IGF Conversation with Invictus Australia: Building the Legacy” marked the latest instalment of the Invictus Games Foundation’s ongoing IGF Conversation series. Designed to promote the exchange of best practice across the global Invictus Community, this series encourages open, informal dialogue between programme leaders, practitioners, and Invictus Alumni—including families—through virtual events and in-person gatherings. Its purpose is to spark shared learning and collaboration across the Movement without the formality of traditional presentations.

This edition explored how long-term, community-based recovery initiatives can grow from the Invictus Games, and for the first time was delivered live from the Sydney headquarters of Invictus Australia. It represented an important milestone as the Foundation continues to strengthen a truly global Invictus Movement.

Panel 3: Impact: Talking to the Evidence Base that Supports the Impact of Sport for Veterans and Their Families

The third and final panel shifted the discussion toward the growing evidence base that underpins the Invictus Movement. Experts from Australia, Canada, and the United States examined the measurable benefits of sport on wellbeing, recovery, and community connection, offering new insights into how research continues to shape the future of veteran support. Contributors included specialists in clinical research, military and veteran health, and sport-based recovery, who outlined findings from Invictus Australia’s foundational impact studies, the Invictus Games Foundation’s Beyond the Finish Line longitudinal research, and ongoing investigations by the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research into the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. The panel underscored the importance of evidence-driven approaches in designing effective programmes, influencing policy, and strengthening the global Invictus Community.
