The Invictus Games Foundation (IGF) has appointed Glenn Keys AO as a new trustee to the board. An experienced leader across business and defence, Glenn brings an extraordinary depth of knowledge and a shared commitment to the Invictus Games Foundation’s ethos—supporting wounded, injured and sick (WIS) service personnel and veterans worldwide through the power of sport.
Glenn currently serves as Chair of Invictus Australia, where alongside CEO Michael Hartung and the Invictus Australia board he has helped drive national efforts to support veterans and their families over the past two years. His involvement with the Invictus Movement dates back to the establishment of the Organising Committee for the Invictus Games Sydney 2018, where he was one of the original Board members. Since then, Glenn has played a pivotal role in shaping the legacy of the Games in Australia. This legacy led to the establishment of Invictus Australia, the first organisation of its kind globally, dedicated to extending the work of the Invictus Games Foundation and supporting the recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration of wounded, injured and sick veterans through sport within Australia.
Under his leadership, Invictus Australia has a strong partnerships in place with the Australian Government and major corporate sponsors, and continues to pioneer innovative, community-based programs that extend the impact of the Games well beyond the competition arena.
In appointing Glenn, we were struck not only by his energy and strategic insight but also his deep understanding of the values that underpin the Invictus Movement,” said CEO Rob Owen OBE. “He is a passionate believer in the power of community, connection, and purpose.”
Glenn’s presence on the board will reinforce IGF’s expanding global footprint. Within Australia’s regional sphere, countries exist that represent critical areas where cultural and structural barriers persist in supporting WIS populations. Glenn’s deep ties and strategic insight offer new pathways to reach and serve those communities.
”Since my involvement to bring the Games to Australia for the Invictus Games Sydney 2018, I have been struck by the power of sport to support WIS veterans and their families. Australia has a strong connection to sport, and the chance to export Australia’s commitment to sport and service through the IGF is a wonderful honour” said Glenn Keys.
Beyond his advocacy, Glenn is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Aspen Medical, one of the world’s leading providers of outsourced healthcare solutions. A former officer in the Australian Defence Force, he has received multiple honours, including his appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2017 for his philanthropic leadership and tireless work supporting people with intellectual disabilities.
Glenn has also served on the boards of several impactful organisations including the National Disability Insurance Agency, Project Independence (which he founded to provide homeownership for people with intellectual disabilities), and the Australian War Memorial.
