Beyond The Games

The Invictus Games Foundation is pleased to announce that the Powered by Invictus virtual sporting leagues have returned for 2023.

Originally launched in January 2021, as part of a collaboration with tech developers ReSport, these leagues were to provide a sporting outlet to the international wounded, injured and sick community during the COVID-19 lockdowns, but their success has led to the Invictus Games Foundation continuing to maintain them, thanks to the support of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.

The leagues are designed to facilitate friendly competition between international participants chasing a personal best in their given sports.

The league is open to all international members of the wounded, injured and sick community, via the We Are Invictus app, those taking part can track their progress and compare their high scores and times against other members of the international WIS community on our Powered by Invictus leagues tables for each sport.

The leagues are designed to help participants feel connected to the wider Invictus community whilst focusing on a physical challenge with an element of friendly competition and the Invictus spirit.

Running from 1st January – 31st March 2023, international wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans will be able to sign up or re-register to the following leagues:

  • Swimming league – 800m (½ mile)
  • Rowing league – 2000 metres
  • Athletics: Track league – 5km
  • Cycling league – 20 miles/ 32km

Also running from 1st January but resetting each month, there is also the opportunity to sign up or re-register to a monthly league in:

  • Archery – both indoor and outdoor leagues for various bow styles

If you’d like to register to join in these friendly competitions and see how you fare, please head to WeAreInvictus.
