Beyond The Games

"Coaching gives me new hope and courage to keep going on with my recovery."

As we continue to spotlight the power of coaching during International Coaching Week, we wanted to showcase another story of resilience and recovery through giving back - This is Kasper's story.

Kasper Holm's was a competitor at the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 and Düsseldorf 2023, with his journey of recovery chronicled in our Netflix series - Heart of Invictus.

He got to experience the transformative power of sport for recovery with his time at the Invictus Games as a member of Team Denmark and now he is continuing to be a part of the Invictus Community by becoming a coach for the Danish national team.

Kasper story began in the Danish Royal Army as a Private and Constable. In 2004, he was among the first Danish forces deployed to Iraq.

Following his service, Kasper faced significant mental health challenges, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a mood disorder, and social anxiety.

He has spoken openly about the difficulties he faced when transitioning out of active service, feeling that he lost his identity and sense of belonging.

Those struggles led him to the Invictus Games and now to coaching, as he wants to encourage others to see the "light when it's dark".

In February, Kasper attended the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, the first ever winter hybrid edition of the Games, as the Alpine coach for Team Denmark and spoke to us on the importance of coaching and helping others.

Enjoy Kasper's story of recovery.
